The use of music I felt worked very well as it was music by the band Set It Off who not many people know of if you were to go up to many people 16-19 and ask them they wouldn't know who they were but for my audience members who I had imagined they would listen to them or recognise the song. the song was called the Haunting and I felt like it fit in with what the film as about and how Charlie felt.
This also attracts the audience due to the fact that many people think that if the film has a good soundtrack its more than likely a good film and if they audience member likes the band or the song they may relate to the characters more, especially as the character actually listens to the song and it isn't just playing in the background. if that song means something to a person then they will relate the character to the song and want to watch the whole film as they feel like they can connect with them.
The setting of Horror films are usually in a very isolated place, with the location of my opening being in an old tree house on private land so there was field around in all directions it gave the feeling of isolation. Most audience members of the Horror genre will want the isolation and places to look scary and by having a old tree house it really brought the innocent kind of horror which in some cases the audience find more scary. By having the tree house and a very young character in the film it really brought out a shocking story line which I feel could grip the audience very well. When my opening was show to a few audience member they said they really liked it and wanted to watch more as the opening was very griping and they wanted to know how/ why she fell and what Rosie was going to do next let alone Charlie.
Some of the camera angles and shots were very precarious and I felt like the camera work brought a sense of adventure into it and the fact that the Rosie being the younger and less dominant character of the two could well be more stronger and dominated the scene by some of the shots. I thought by using a high angle shot of Rosie looking down towards Charlie portrayed that she could be the stronger of the two and it made Charlie look venerable, this could give the audience a different view on Rosie as a character and that she isn't as innocent and weak as she looks. The fact that the Camera work along entails so much mystery could pull the audience into the story especially with the point of view shots ( for example the shot of Rosie falling off the tree house, it was very unexpected and you felt when watching it that you had just fallen yourself. This may intrigue the
audience into wanting to see what its like to be in a possessed persons body and how they see the world).

Evaluation 2
Both characters are innocent young girls with a supernatural power/force. I felt like they had a lot of similarities between them.
Rosie wore quite colourful clothes to represent the childish side to her as the connotations of bright colours as quite fun and childish. June was wearing a white dress, this may be to contrast between the innocence of a young girl compared to what she is capable of. in both cases that was the main feature of bright clothing, to really eventuate the innocence of the two young girls. it give a more shocking and dramatic effect to their powers when the audience see them as venerable children. By giving June a teddy and sitting her on a swing ( in the image) it really drew out that fact that she was very young.
Appearance wise they were a little different however both stereotypical. Rosie was blonde with blue eyes ( a usual combination) and June was brunette with brown eyes ( again a usual combination). For me I find that Rosie looked younger as the brightness of her hair and eyes added a more youthfulness look about here were as June looked slightly older as she was darker. Both Characters had makeup on. Rosie was made to look slightly malnourished and a little paler. I gave her darker eyebrows and used a little white face paint, the two things done together made her completion paler. by adding a small amount of grey around her eyes and on her cheekbones made her look tired and thinner as if she was actually malnourished. June was also given darker eyes, her face wasn't paled as that was done by the dark hair and white dress and her cheek bones were not exaggerated I think this was to keep her face looking chubby to make her more innocent and very child like.
Both June and Rosie had main parts in the film, and it was based around them and what they could do. Junes abilities were used when she got angry or upset and she was able to kill a lot of people. Rosie's however were more complex. They were not seen in the opening to the film to keep it hidden from the audience.
In my film opening I thought a tree house would be a perfect location as they are associated with children and how children always dream of having one in their back garden, they are usually seen as a very happy and fun place but put in the right atmosphere they can actually be quite scary. similarly in June, the location of the image I have chosen was a fair type place with a play ground. Play ground's are specifically for children so in the same way having the action placed in such a fun place really gave the audience shocking turn around.

Completion
The only real issue was the sound of the surroundings, as I filmed everything on my phone and it was a very windy day. seeing this me and charlotte put our heads together to thing of some way round this problem. we wanted music in the finished result so having found a song ( the haunting by set it off) we were able to work it around the problematic areas and still have the dialogue.
It was very helpful that we tried a few different ideas out on the day of filming with different shots and timings, it was useful in the editing process to actually have more takes and shots than we needed so we could choose the best and show the best of mine and charlottes directing/ filming abilities.

By having also filmed a vlog alongside our task it was an easy way to show all the small bits that usually get cut out of the making and no body really thinks about e.g feeding the actors. Me and Charlotte thought that by putting a funny spin on the vlog it would really show how fun the day was for both us and the actors. Niamh ( who played Rosie) said " I really, really enjoyed the day and I want to do it again". I think by having such a good relationship with the actors it made our jobs easy as it wasn't 'scary' talking to them and telling them what to do.
The two actors, Ben and Niamh, also had a brilliant relationship on and off camera. they got on very well and already had a sibling like rivalry between them which I thought really showed through the filming.

Editing
It is going very well and coming along quickly. Most base editing is done and only music, refining details etc needs to be done and the adding of mine and Charlottes logo at the beginning before me are done.

Actor trouble
Oh god!
Both the original actors are unable to film this weekend. Me and Charlotte found this out on Wednesday. After trial and error with a few people we finally found two actors. Ben Walters and Niamh.
It was a major problem that both me and Charlotte coped with quite calmly. First we came up with a list of people who we thought would be perfect for the part and asked them. When none of them were able to help us out. Finally Ben offered to be 'Charlie' in our task which was a life saver! I then remembered how my cousin Niamh loved to act, so a thumbs us from my auntie and we had both actors.
While off camera Niamh and Ben had a very sibling like relationship, they were always messing about and running round which I felt really reflected in the filming. I don't think we could have found a better set of actors for the job.
Day of filming!
Thank god we have filmed. Five and a half hours of filming and we had gotten all the shots we needed.
The day went smoothly with makeup first at around 11 and it only went up from there.
Charlotte did Bens makeup, giving him a pale complection with dark/deep set eyes and excentuated cheekbones. This made him look very malnourished.
For Niamh I gave her very minimal, brushed over her face with a skin colour to really smooth her face over, then made her eyebrows a little darker before drawing her cheek bones out a little.
After finding out the camera we had was out of battery and had no charger with it i went hunting for a charger that might have fit but there was none to be found. Thinking for a moment I decided to ask Charlotte if we should just use my phone to film as it was quite good quality. That's what we did, filmed everything on my phone. Although we had a few problems with the wind and the sound quality, it's a fixable thing during editing.
The bond off camera between Niamh and Ben was very like real siblings. A huge thank you to Ben and Niamh for stepping in last minute. The fact that they had a good relationship reflected in their acting with each other as they were both comfortable with the connection on brother and sister. It's clearly shown in the shots that Charlie ( Ben) has a protective personality when it comes to his little sister.
Once we had all eaten our subway and had a lunch break we got straight back out and began to film in the tree-house.
Charlotte and I brainstormed a few ideas of how we could get Rosie ( Niamh) actually falling off the tree-house such as:
○ someone standing underneath to catch Niamh - we figured that was a major safety hazard.
○ getting bales of straw for Niamh to jump on - we were unable to get straw up to the tree house
Finally I thought of just dropping my phone as a scream could be heard. Trying this technique out and seeing the result we couldn't have asked for better.
A few more shots and pictures
THAT'S A WRAP !
Lots of thanking to do
Thanks to Charlottes Mum and Bens Dad for bringing them to and from Marlborough
Thanks to my Mum for being out personal driver alla day
Thanks to Dawn and David Hearson for letting us use their amazing Tree House for our filming
Thanks to Charlotte for doing Bens makeup

Location
I found the perfect location for our task. In the preliminary task we used my mum's bosses house and as they have a tree house I thought it would be the perfect location to use. As the house is very close so if any of the actors need the toilet or if we are hungry it is easily accessible.
It also looks perfect for the location. It's old and quite creepy even in the daylight and that is what we were looking for. I feel like the character of the tree house will really add atmosphere to the sequence.

Storyboarding
The Idea for our final piece came very quickly and we were about to storyboard it without any concern.
We've added a few different kinds of shots in that we didn't use in the preliminary task and I think this will broaden both mine and Charlottes camera skills. The way we are going to try and make it seem like the little sister has fallen of the tree house i feel will really show our abilities as directors and also our abilities to edit.

Horror
They are usually captivating with a shocking finale.
This is an example of a slasher. A slasher is a gory horror that usually consists of a main character that has been through some sort of torture that has made them the way they are and the way they think.
This is a prime example of a sci fi horror. Usually including an alien or out of this world creature from space that sets out to kill people. Full of suspence and tensipn.
These types of film contain a Supernatural force such as a spirit or ghost that has unfinished buisness.
Naked Fear
